Our Vice Chairman introduces himself

I would like to take a look at last month's blog from our Chairman of the Board of Directors, Robert Weinhold. Perhaps the two stories in comparison will show why we met at the Ronovatec start-up.
Status of equipment technology at the time of my career start
As a young professional, I repaired the machines that Robert is now a fan of with oldtimer status. I grew up with agricultural machines and later learned to maintain them. Although I have always been oriented towards new things, I have always kept in touch with agriculture. Therefore my topic today should be when and how to keep up with the times. After my apprenticeship at the beginning of the 1990s, I quickly turned to information technology and took a further training course in business informatics. Although it was a while ago, I still often tell myself today that if I hadn't done this, I would be missing some basic knowledge. At the beginning of the computer age, I made a conscious decision to move with the times and always look at the challenges of change in a positive light.  I tell young people who are allowed to choose a profession: "Choose something that gives you pleasure and fulfills you. But also think about where the trends will be in the future - as far as it is foreseeable".
In this respect, I see three major directions or developments: The first is information technology and digitalization, the second is the good "old" and still needed handicraft. The third topic I see is the broadly defined environmental sector. These three topics can be combined wonderfully in the further course of a career and supplemented with knowledge. Here I would like to cover a wider range. When I first read about the Ronovatec self-propelled lawnmower project in the newspaper, my first thought was - back to the roots. The project fascinated me from the very first minute. But it was not in the sense of nostalgia or ideology, but the technology and the change it contained immediately appealed to me. After my first contacts with Marcus, I was convinced that Ronovatec was an interesting startup for me. In the further discussions, the realization matured that I could participate in this future-oriented project with an investment. But what was it that got me so excited? It is precisely this combination of the original craft in agriculture (mowing) and the new technology in the field of robots (IT) that I can technologically understand. By replacing the electronic drive, we are also involved in the field of environmental technology. I am able to combine what I have learnt and acquired with the technology that is predominant today - self-propelled robotics. So for me, this is where the circle closes and that's why I'm so enthusiastic about this research and development project. From July 2020, I will be able to join the Ronovatec Board of Directors as Vice-Chairman and take over from Robert in 2021. I have got to know a dedicated team that is focused on success. I am convinced from the bottom of my heart that our "baby" will succeed.
Devices in advanced professional age - between them 35 years of enormous developments in information technology
I look forward to working with the Board of Directors and to working with the whole Ronovatec team together. In this spirit, a warm welcome to the Ronovatec community and see you soon in Immensee.
